Dr. Eugenia Pena-Yewtukhiw
Director
Dr. Pena-Yewtukhiw brings a strong background in soil fertility and chemical analysis. Resident of WV since 2006, she is a Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design Faculty in the Soil’s group. She has a M.S. in Soil Chemistry, a PhD in Soil Physics and Management, and has worked as a soils management consultant in farm and urban settings. At WVU she has dedicated her time to teaching Environmental Soil Management, Urban Soils, and Soil Physics, and researching Soil Quality and Health in pastures, hay fields, and organic agriculture. She is known for her work in WVU undergraduate research, and is bringing a research/service approach to our Soil Testing Laboratory.
Robert Rockis
Senior Laboratory Technician
Rob began his career in The West Virginia University Soil Testing Laboratory as a student worker while working towards his B.S in Geology. Rob soon discovered his passion for laboratory work and was trained as a laboratory support technician under two of the senior members of the Soil Testing Laboratory Faculty; Dr. Bennett and Dr. Gahzi. After they left the laboratory Rob took over as the main laboratory technician. After two decades of service to the lab, Rob has gained the title of Senior Laboratory Technician. Outside of the lab Rob’s passions include playing and coaching ice hockey.
Sierrah Gaddy
2016 Intern
Sierrah is a West Virginia Native majoring in Agricultural and Extension Education, with an interest in soil science. She is working with us on improving the webpage, refining field sampling methods for specific commodities, and preparing materials to facilitate communication between The WVU Soil Testing Lab and its customers.
Her passions include teaching, helping her fellow students, taking care and showing her animals, and all things related to food production.
